For those of you keeping track of which of your rights and freedoms in the United States of America is being bought and paid for by big corporations, in the ongoing battle between Sony and Geohot regarding the PS3 Jailbreak code. Sony has recently won the right to subpoena Hotz’s web provider, Youtube, and blogger for any and all records including I.P. Address’ for the activities of George Hotz and any visitors to the sites connected to him, this includes having watched the jailbreak video on youtube.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation has written a letter to the Judge claiming that the subpoenas are overly broad. Once again this is a reminder for all concerned to write their Politicians and encourage them to retract or prevent any DMCA style laws like the USA has implemented and prevent any from being implemented in the future that take away the consumers right to modify the hardware they own as they see fit.
