Sony is about to drop Firmware update 3.56 to it’s Playstation 3. This update adds zero functionality and is only being released as a deterrent to the Homebrew and Jailbreak users.
If you are currently using any of the jailbreak tools I would advise against updating your PS3 at this time, however I suspect most of this is just framework for detection of and a mass ban of hacked consoles.
Quote from the Playstation Blog:
“A new PS3 system software update, v3.56, will be released soon. This is a minor update that adds a security patch.”
